YouTube Converting Videos Into 3D

Get your 3D glasses ready!  YouTube announced this week that they’re rolling out a new feature that will convert all 1080p-quality videos to 3D.  This feature was launched in beta this past September and since then members have converted “hundreds of thousands” of videos into 3D.  It will now be available to the public. While the beta version gave content creators the option of converting, YouTube will automatically convert videos and hand over control to the viewers. Your audience can now choose to watch videos with Red/Cyan, Green/Magenta, Blue/Yellow, or interleaved 3D glasses.

“You can select 3D viewing in the Quality settings (click on the gear icon) on the YouTube player, then pop on your 3D glasses and see YouTube in another dimension” – YouTube

Are we ready for this?  Could this have a big effect on your Internet Marketing efforts?  This is all to be determined.  I admit it will make for some interesting videos but I personally don’t see myself wearing 3D glasses in-front of the computer any time soon.

Not getting sold personally on this either. I can see consumers trying 3D glasses out though, especially if YT will push the whole idea and not keep it just as a hidden function.
