Three Overlooked Steps To B2B Success With LinkedIn

It would seem so obvious, but you would be surprised how easy it is to overlook the most simplest steps in generating a lot of business to business contacts and leads from LinkedIn. Here are three things to keep in mind to remain at the top of your game on LinkedIn:

  1. Complete Your Company Profile – A completed company profile is the key to lead generation on LinkedIn. Over the next 30 days, try committing to completely filling out the Company Page, including adding your Twitter and blog feeds and adding a full complement of products. If a video is not available for each product, make one that is one to two minutes long.
  2. Join Groups – You can find a group for any industry, topic or interest. Identify 10 groups to join based on your target prospects. Join the groups and monitor the conversation for a month to determine how to add value with content. Building thought leadership within the group creates connections and introductions that foster leads and sales. Recommend high-value groups to others in your company and encourage them to join and share company content as well.
  3. Organize Your LinkedIn Sharing – Sharing content on LinkedIn is key. However, it’s important to be organized in your approach. Develop an editorial calendar for 1 month that outlines status updates for the company and individual topics and group discussion threads. Coordinate this schedule with 3 people from your company to ensure that you are all coordinated in building LinkedIn reach and leads.

If you are a 1-man army, you can still accomplish all of this as well, just follow the general outline and set aside some time for yourself to complete these tasks.

  1. Ralph – I like your third point in particular. Organizing the sharing is the most overlooked aspect of using Linkedin among my clients. Thanks for the reminder. Great stuff.
