Mobile Keeps Rising To The Top

Many people keep claiming that mobile is the future. The future? I, for one, do not concur with the prior claim. Mobile is RIGHT NOW and this convenient technology is yielding more opportunities every 24 hours. Just look around the next time you are taking the subway, at a sporting event, or at your local coffee shop. We are all utilizing our mobile devices and alot of us are watching video.

We already know that the bulky desktop power sucking computer is in decline. Smartphones and tablets are being released at a rate that boggles the mind. Why? Because, this is the demand of the market. These are the devices that people want. And, according to the numbers, many more people are consuming video.

Are you marketing on video? Notice how many more advertisers are jumping aboard not only mobile, but video advertising? Why? Because, that is where the eyes are – watching videos.

Let’s take a look at this infographic touted – The Rise of Mobile. In particular, this infographic speaks to video consumption. Mobile users are gobbling up video and internet TV on their smartphones and tablets more and more with each passing year. Below are some of the more interesting facts.

  • Video viewership by phone increased by 35.7% in 2011
  • The average tablet owner consumes 35 minutes of video every week
  • Close to 25% of video viewers in households use the web and a device other than their tv to consume video
  • 25 – 49 year old demographic is consuming the highest level of web based/mobile based video
These stats tell me one thing. My audience is watching videos. So, I have two choices. Create videos to drive traffic to my sites, or advertise on relevant videos to push my offers.

Thanks for this. I agree that mobile is now. I've seen a massive increase in the amount of revenue generated by mobile ads. The traffic goes up every single day. I remember years ago the adult industry was starting to make a push for it and I thought "What a waste of time for 3 clicks a day" but man were they right.
