If you didn’t catch it already, Vijaye Raji from the Facebook Developer’s blog announced a new way for mobile app developers to grow their business with an ad unit that helps them reach and re-engage their users. According to Raji, Facebook is testing the ad unit with a limited set of beta partners. However, if you’re interested in this beta program, you can signup here.
Mobile ads are an additional way to drive people to apps. When a person clicks on one of these ads, if they do not have the app installed they will be sent to the App Store or Google Play to get it. Now a pretty incredible stat I got was that Facebook claims to have sent over 146 million people via clicks from their news feed, timeline, bookmarks and App Center channels to the Apple App Store and Google Play. Even more astonishing, those 146 million people visited in just the last 30 days!
Within the App Dashboard you can design, launch and monitor your mobile app campaign. It’s pretty simple – in your App Dashboard, choose your app and audience and then set your budget.
Pro Tip – At the bottom of your campaign setup under #3 – you will see a link that says “For Advanced Options, Create Your Promotion In Power Editor.” This means that by using the Power Editor you will have some more options that are not seen on the typical campaign setup Interface.
From there, you simply choose your payment method and start your ad campaign. You can monitor your ad’s performance from that point forward:
Note: To help Facebook provide you with information about the effectiveness of your ads and the use of your app, integrate with the Facebook SDK 3.0 for iOS. They announced the beta of the iOS SDK a few weeks ago and are releasing it today.
