Make Bank This Fall With The Presidential Election

Oh how I love the fall trends.  With professional and college football back in full swing, there are large amounts of fans searching for their favorite team online bringing more traffic to your advertisements.  At a couple seminars, I’ve spoke about how I once bid on the phrase “Brett Favre” and built out a complete lead gen funnel for football fans.  Not only were the leads lucrative there was a number of different offers I could “pitch them.”  The traffic was also dirt cheap (less than $0.10 per click).

This year is a special one because its the presidential election in the United States.  That brings even more traffic and opinions online you can use to target your advertisements too.  Just by looking at my Facebook newsfeed I can tell you that the presidential election gets the attention of many and sparks more tempers and interest to a broad audience than almost anything else.  Using this hype you can get creative and poll your audience (on things such as the presidential and vice presidential debates) and transition them into your lead gen funnel for potential monetization.

During the last election I made a little over $2,000 profit on voting day promoting a simple zip-code submit offer that lead people into a lead gen offer for grocery coupons!  It was all because of the large amounts of traffic on news sites such as CNN.com that led to a bunch of unfilled inventory.

Here four years later we have a new little friend that provides buckets of high volume cheap traffic that can be monetized using the very same strategies; mobile.  The amount of cheap mobile traffic in the United States is almost mind blowing and with a broad topic like the election it’s fairly easy to capture people’s attention and lead them down a monetization path.  Over at Revived Media we’ve working with a number of clients to generate leads using the fall trends.

Since we’re mid-way through October it’s also important to remember Halloween.  That’s a trend that has a global reach and can also be monetized.  One creative angle I’ve seen here in the US is people using the “big bird” image (as PBS was a controversial subject during the first presidential debate).  That’s smart because it’s taking the angle to capitalize off two trends at once!

Display, social, and mobile provide you with more-than-enough traffic to keep you busy monetizing all of these fall trends.  I hope you all take advantage of them and leverage them for long term success.  Don’t be the “lazy affiliate” that just direct links out to offers make sure you’re building up your own lists by creating your unique paths and monetizing them on both the front and back end!
