LinkedIn Mobile Ads on The Horizon for iPad, iPhone, and Androids?
First quarter earning calls are going on and LinkedIn is no stranger to the routine. During their Q1 earnings report, LinkedIn revealed that their growth in mobile has been excellent.
The adoption rate of their new mobile approach has accounted for 22% of their unique visitors, which is 14% higher that their 8% mobile base from this time last year.
While the CEO, Jeff Weiner did not reveal any numbers, he did state that their iPad app has exceeded the company’s “aggressive” expectations. When he was asked about what areas of LinkedIn were the strongest, Weiner, again mentioned the iPad application.
Weiner continued during the call to mention that the focus of the company is to bring all of the business lines into the mobile environment. Weiner also addressed advertising with regards to the iPad and also speaking about smartphones. First, the iPad would most likely have ads that closely resemble those ads that are currently seen on the website when using a desktop or laptop computer. However, since smartphones have less screen real-estate, something that Facebook has recently addressed, LinkedIn will be experimenting with custom ad types specifically designed for iPhone and Android platform. An example of these custom ad types might include promoting companies to follow or targeting the news stream for relevant ads.
