Holy Shit – French Woman Receives Mobile Bill For €11,721,000,000,000,000

Cell phone bill. Nobody likes them.

But this has to be a new record – a subscriber to French network Bouygues Telecom received a bill for €11,721,000,000,000,000. That’s nearly 12 quadrillion, or 12 million billion Euros – nearly 6,000 times France’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in 2011. Less bill shock, then, more bill heart attack.

The customer, Solenne San Jose , attempted to cancel her contract, reports local newspaper Sud Ouest. She then received a letter telling her she would have to pay off any remaining charges first – which somehow amounted to the gargantuan figure.

Apparently, customer service took a long time to admit to a mistake with the automatically calculated, and even suggested she pay off the amount in installments, before admitting that the actual amount was €117.21. By way of apology, Bouygues Telecom won’t be collecting the amount.

If you’re French, you can read the entire story here. Crazy.
