Google Claims Newly Revamped Image Search May Lead To Better CTR
According to an official news release by Google, the search giant has listened to feedback from Google Image users. The image results while useful has been drastically upgraded to enhance the user experience and even yields some positive notes for those webmasters and site owners who work to SEO their images.
Google has stated that the new interface for image display will present results within an inline panel so its faster, sleeker, and more reliable. Now users can use their keyboards to navigate or “flip” through a set of images. When done looking or should you want to briefly return to your browsing you can simply scroll down and go right back to where you were previously!

Noted Changes via Google News Release
- Instead of redirecting users to a separate landing page to retrieve data about the image, the metadata is now served underneath the image within the results, giving the end user more data within one click instead of driving them to a separate image landing page.
- Key information about the image is now listed to the right, including: image size, the title of the page that is hosting the image, and finally the domain from which the image comes from.
- The source page no longer load via iframe in the background of the image viewing which will dramatically increase the speed of these searches and decrease loads on source server.
- Saving the best for last – Through their initial testing, Google claims that a net increase was recorded in CTR to the hosting website due in part to the now 4 clickable area targets associated with the image! Website owners will love this!
