7Search Guide – How To Get Started With 7Search PPC
By Ralph "Ruck" Ruckman on Oct 21, 2011 with Comments 4
7Search.com is a high performing, low-cost advertising pay-per-click search engine network. They deliver traffic from hundreds of niche Web properties, search engines and portals with a better ROI (Return on Investment) than any other PPC network (this is what they claim, not my endorsement). 7search offers no minimum monthly spend, low cost-per-click, industry-leading & patented fraud detection, responsive & expert PPC customer support and innovative advertiser tools and services.
However, not a lot of information is found regarding 7Search so I’m putting this “How to get started with 7Search” guide out there for anyone looking to for a low-budget and easy way to start driving traffic to offers, products and services. This is a collection of 3+ years of 7Search Pay Per Click Marketing.
What I want to cover first and foremost. With EVERY traffic source out there, we see bold claims of (highest ROI) or (best traffic quality). I am going to be fair but honest here so that nobody is mislead. It’s in my experience advertising on 7Search and also collaborating with hundreds of marketers who’ve advertised on 7Search as well that it is VERY hit an miss. With that said, before I begin this tutorial, I want you to understand what the highest paying keywords are on 7Search which you can use their script and check the 500 top paying keywords on 7Search.
Here’s an example of their top 20 paying keywords (note: casino and pharma):
Now you can understand whatthe “deep pocket” advertisers are advertising for. Keep this in mind, because as they have stated, they advertise across a variety of “niche” properties and partners. That is how they get the traffic that they will be delivering to your ads.
How To Create A PPC Campaign On 7Search:
For the sake of simplicity, I’m going to go ahead and put up information that 7Search already provides. Having me go through the 7Search campaign setup process would be redundant when they already provide their own tutorial on how to do it:
However, here’s my simple setup process along with the setup video:
- Open your 7Search Account
- Create a campaign
- Name your campaign and write you adcopy
- Include your keyword an partner tokens in your url
- Choose your daily budget
- Geo target your ad in your campaign
- Choose your keywords and set your bids
- Adjust your bidding to whatever you want your ads to rank
- Run the campaign and watch your results
- Run reports to find and add any negative keywords
- Write specific titles and descriptions for any high volume keywords
- Drop poor keywords to phrase or exact match
- Use day parting if you can
- Block any crappy partners or domains
- Add more keywords
- Rinse and repeat with more campaigns
Using The 7Search Keyword Tool:
One of the great things about 7Search is that they have their own keyword tool you can use here. A thing to note is that 7Search’s keyword data is a month behind as you can see in the example below and I also selected “Show Estimates” from the drop-down menu:
As you can see, you can get “estimated” data on:
- Searches
- Top Clicks
- Top Cost
- Top Bid
- Bid #2, #2, #4 and #5
These are just to be used as suggestions only, however the more help, the better right.
Another great feature is that if you click on the keyword, you can see the other advertiser’s ads. Now this is where you have to put your thinking cap on because I clicked on “recipe” and I see a couple of diet ads (food for thought!). This unfortunately, kind of tells you the story of “relevancy” of 7Search advertising. Again, I’m not knocking 7Search however, knowing that they will most likely read this, you guys/gals really need to get a relevancy algorithym because “advertisers who pay the most” is old-school and the ads you are displaying aren’t really helpful in this case. I could put up more examples but I won’t. You get the picture here:
Now to further my backing 7Search, I’m quoting your Titles and Description from your policy:
Titles and descriptions must be relevant, not only to the website submitted, but to the keyword the website is listed under.
Example: If the title and description only describes “games” then you cannot submit the keyword “travel” for your site.
Adding Keywords To 7Search:
Bidding On 7Search:
The majority of searches that come from 7Search are driven by their Affiliate Network (other search engines, portals and websites). These affiliates combineĀ 7Search results (your listing) with search results that they get from other providers. These results are usually ordered based on the bid amounts. Even though you may be at the number 1 position on 7Search, your site may be in a lower position on the search results pages of their affiliates.
The 2nd row from the bottom with a bid of $0.03 is at position 1 on 7Search. However, its average weighted position on the Affiliate Network is around 3. To get into position 1 on the Affiliate Network the bid needs to be $0.04 or one cent above the Affiliate Network’s Smart Bid).
Note that the “Searches” column under the 7Search and Affiliate Network sections show the approximate number of searches received for the previous month. For the 2nd row from the bottom, the amount of searches that returned the listing in the top position on 7Search is 15, while the number of searches that returned the listing in the 3rd position across the whole Affiliate Network is 14,793. Clearly, if you are interested in getting the benefit of the 1 position (which gets at least three times as many clicks as position 2), you could increase the bid to $0.04 (one cent above the Smart Bid on the Affiliate Network).
Note: The keyword rows that do not contain any values in the Average Position and the Smart Bid columns of the Affiliate Network sections mean that 7Search does not have enough historical data for these keywords.

7Search Account Reports Tutorial:
This concludes the How to get started with 7Search PPC guide. In the future, we will be talking more about 7Search and some creative ways to really advertise with them. As I’ve said, they are really hit and miss and their is so much to talk about in regards to their traffic quality so in the next post, I’ll cover that and I think you will have some “aha” moments and better ROI advertising with them.
